The Annual WFUMC Charge Conference presided over by our District Superintendent, Reverend Jeff Mickles, will be held on Wednesday, November 29, at 7 PM in the Sanctuary. All members of our congregation are encouraged to attend.

The Annual UMW Holiday Dinner is on Tuesday, December 5 at 6 PM at Mt. Vernon High School Café. Choice of Breast of Chicken or Ham for $25.00. Reservations and payments are due to either Nancy in the church office, or to Bev Card by November 30. All Ladies of the church are invited.

Rising Hope Food Donations – Our Washington Farm congregation has donated more than $1300.00 worth of food items for Rising Hope UMC from January through October of this year! Thank you for your generous donations of these food items; thanks to all of our children who have so energetically collected food from the pews; and many thanks to Bob Slusser for organizing and accounting for the food items and delivering them to Rising Hope each month.

Friends of Good Shepherd Housing Tour – Good Shepherd Housing (GSH) is offering a tour of their office, service area, and properties on Saturday, December 2 at 10:30 am-12:00 pm.  The tour is the perfect opportunity to become familiar with the work that GSH does to reduce homelessness and enable self-sufficiency in our community.  The tour starts from their office at Mount Zephyr Business Center, Suite 17B, 8305 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA.  Please call Lisa Webster if you are interested in joining a group from WFUMC for the tour.

All Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts need to be turned in TODAY, November 12 for dedication and delivery together to the local collection point.

The Christmas Angels for Rising Hope are available for pick up today following the service on the Friendship Patio.

The Mid-Day Circle will meet at 2 PM, Thursday, November 16 at the home of Anne Ojalehto.

 Church Security.  An important mission of Washington Farm UMC is to maintain an open sanctuary during the day. Our “security team” then checks and locks the education building and sanctuary by dusk. Thus, if you attend an activity after hours, please be sure lights are out and the building locked when you leave.   And note, we’re always looking for members to be part of the security detail, an activity that normally involves no more than two days per month.  Please contact Nancy in the church office or Mary Rohweder for more information.

CHRISTMAS TREE PROJECT: This important community and WFUMC project is on track. Bryan Bearden is the Chair/Project Lead. We will need volunteers to assemble the racks and lights on Friday, Nov. 18 and Sat. Nov 19. Trees are to be delivered Saturday, November 25th, at 8 AM, the Tree Lot opens at 12 Noon. This is a valuable project for our Church and the community. Please consider your schedules from mid-November until the second or third week in December as we will need volunteers everyday. There is great fellowship around the fire barrel!

All Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts need to be turned in No Later Than November 12 for dedication and delivery together to the local collection point.  The gifts may also be left in the Narthex at any time during the week before.

Stephen Ministers will met Monday, Nov 6 at 7 PM in the Fireplace Room.

Chancel Choir and Cantata Choir will meet this week on Tuesday, Nov 7 at 7:30 and 8:15 PM.

The Local Outreach Meeting will be on Tuesday, November 7 at 7:00 pm in the classroom across from the church office.

Morning Circle will meet Wednesday, Nov 8 at the home of Cyndy McGrew at 10 AM. All are welcome.

November 5 we will celebrate All Saints Day during the service. Please email or call the church office if you have someone who has passed away since Nov 1, 2016 so they can be recognized.

It’s not too late to pack a shoebox gift for Operation Christmas Child!  Flat shoeboxes and all the materials needed will continue to be available on the OCC table in the Narthex whenever the church is open.  Please return your filled shoebox gifts anytime, but NLT November 12 to be collected and dedicated at the worship service.

Cantata Choir rehearsals began last Wednesday. It is not too late to join us! The time is 8:15 PM, immediately following Chancel Choir.

Pastor Waltz has started a new Sunday Morning Bible Study which meets in the basement of the church sanctuary at 9 AM each Sunday. The class will be studying and discussing The Parables. Please come and join what should be an interesting and informative class.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be available on the Friendship Patio after the service today and at any time in the Narthex for the next several weeks.  Please be sure to pick up a plastic bag of information for each shoebox and note prohibited items in selecting gifts to include.  Return completed boxes to the Narthex NLT Sunday, Nov. 12, for collection and dedication during worship.

The Trustees Meeting will be held on Wednesday evening in the Fireplace Room at 7 PM.

A huge thank you to all who participated in every part of the Fall Yard Sale. This church came together in participation this Fall. People stepped up for every need from distributing flyers, to donating items, to pricing those items, to picking up those items, to hauling tables and items to the parking lot at 6:30 AM yesterday morning, to cashiering, to operating the hot dog stand, to being available for answers to customers questions

David Levine, President of Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services, will speak this morning at the 10:00 service. There will be a special collection during this service to help GSH in its efforts to reduce homelessness and enable self-sufficiency among working-class families, senior citizens, and residents with disabilities in our community. Checks to WFUMC with “Local Outreach” in the memo line or cash in envelopes designated “Local Outreach” will be directed to Good Shepherd Housing to support programs in the Route One Corridor.

Hope to see everyone working for our Fall Yard Sale this Saturday, Oct 7. We need pricers, help with truck pick-ups in the evenings, help with 6 AM set up on Saturday morning, cashiers and people to help with the break down at 1 PM. If you have questions, call the church office between 8:30 and 12:30 or leave a message on the answering machine.

Sign-up sheet is in the narthex to bring food for the 6 AM breakfast before the Yard Sale. Please have food in place by 5:50 AM.

THANK YOU: A big thank-you to everyone who donated food for the weekend Power Packs for school children and to the WFUMC families and members who helped prepare the packs on Mount Vernon’s Day to Serve. As usual, our WFUMC congregation was amazing in its generosity; more than 700 Power Packs were prepared at the event on September 17th. THANK YOU!!

CHRISTMAS TREES. Washington Farm UMC will continue to offer Christmas Trees to our community this year. We have a new supplier from PA and believe we will have very high quality trees. More details will be out after the Yard Sale, but delivery is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, (Saturday after Thanksgiving). Start looking at your calendars to see when you are available to help with the Christmas Tree Lot.! What fun, some of us can’t wait!
