VIC Hypothermia Outreach Program: It’s time to consider whether you can volunteer with others from our church to spend a night at the Ventures in Community Hypothermia Outreach Program (VIC-HOP) at Rising Hope Mission Church. Washington Farm UMC has committed to help with overnight chaperoning for four Sunday nights: February 11 and 25 and March 11 and 25. Please contact Lisa Webster or Samantha Barnes if you would like more information–or are ready to step up and fill this great need.
KNITTERS WANTED– Do you know how to knit? We are very much in need of several knitters to help resupply shawls for the “Prayer Shawls” program. Prayer Shawls are given to people during a difficult time. Baby shawls are also given to church member’s immediate family. Right now, we only have 3 ladies knitting and the requests for shawls are increasing and the supply bank is getting very low. Questions, call Gail Dawes. She would be happy to get you started. UMW will reimburse the knitters for the yarn.
Lenten Soup Suppers–the season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, which falls on Feb 14 this year (Valentine’s Day!) Soup suppers, with a devotional time led by the pastor, take place on 5 Tuesdays during Lent. A Pancake supper is held on Tuesday, Feb 13. More info will be coming soon regarding these. Volunteer sign-up sheet is in the Narthex. We ask for groups or individuals to provide a soup or bread for the suppers, or to help prepare pancakes for Feb 13.
Scout Sunday–March 11. Do you have a Boy Scout or Girl Scout in your family? Please let Eileen Fraedrich know, if so. The scouts will be in charge of some of the leadership roles in worship that day.
